Why SaaS?
Solutions used in the SaaS model not only bring many advantages, but also make the everyday life easier. When deciding to use such a model of cooperation, you benefit in the following aspects:
- No full application purchase costs – you pay a monthly subscription fee, which is very low in comparison to the possibilities you gain
- Lack of a long and costly process of deploying the applications – all you need is an internet connection and a standard Web browser
- The simplicity of working with the application and its management – SaaS applications are well designed in terms of utility, which allows the user to concentrate on carrying out his task instead of “fighting with the application”
- Support and service cost savings – no need to keep a complex IT department or hire an external company
- Constant access to the current version of the software – no need to update the application on the users’ computers
- Possibility to use applications from any computer, located anywhere in the world
- Data security – the application supplier creates backup copies of the data
- Flexibility – implementation takes several days, rather than weeks or months, as does the traditional model of distributing applications
- Availability 365 days a year/7 days a week/24 hours a day
- Scalability – the SaaS solutions can be scaled easily as demands from the customer increase, because they are deployed on a platform designed to handle thousands of users
For a couple of years now, a clear trend of releasing internal and complex company IT departments in the IT industry has been observed. As we live in a time, when every penny is spent very carefully and at the same time we have fast and easy internet access, the choice of outsourcing has already become very profitable. Not only smaller companies, but also large corporations employing as many as hundreds of people have already decided to use this solution.
Giving up on a costly, demanding room, one often generating problems, named the server room, and the partial responsibility for the maintenance of the infrastructure as well as the ongoing concerns about whether the backup was done today is no longer a luxury. It’s everyday life and a trend, which began many years ago and is gaining speed, covering wider and wider circles. More and more services are being provided by external companies, which allows us to focus on what is really important, i.e. growth and evolution of our company, saving time, which, as we all know, can be expressed in a concrete amount of money.
A relatively young branch of the IT industry is the so-called software as a service (from English Software-as-a-Service – SaaS), which belongs to one of the three models of “cloud computing”. While using this solution, the user gains access to software without the need to install it, manage it or update it. He is no longer interested where the physical IT infrastructure of the solution he uses is located. This model, in the context of software used today, is becoming widely available.
